Umicore is one of the world's leaders in the production and transformation of non-ferrous metals. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
- refining and processing of precious metals (68.4%);
- manufacturing catalysts and products based on precious metals (14.7%): catalysts for automotives, platinum-based molded materials, solder pastes, electronic connection materials, rhodium-based electrolytes, decorative coatings, etc.;
- high-tech materials (10.7%): cobalt components, special powders for the hard metal and diamond tool markets, substrates for electroluminescent diodes, germanium blanks, etc.;
- manufacturing of zinc products (6%): fine zinc powders, zinc alloys, zinc oxides, zinc building materials, etc.;
- other (0.2%).
Net sales break down geographically as follows: Belgium (2.6%), Europe (72.8%), Americas (13.6%), Asia-Pacific (9.3%) and Africa (1.7%).
