UNIPETROL, a.s. ('Unipetrol') informs that due to an incident - fire and explosion at the Partial Oxidation Unit (POX unit) in Chempark Záluží, Litvínov, which occurred on December 12, 2017, the POX unit and ammonia unit have been shut down. As an effect of this incident, crude oil processing in Litvínov and Kralupy nad Vltavou refineries, as well as petrochemical processing of steam cracker unit in Chempark Záluží, Litvínov, have been reduced. There has been no damage to health or the environment.

Based on the information available, it is expected that the POX unit and ammonia unit in Chempark Záluží, Litvínov will be restarted within several weeks. Crude oil processing in the Litvínov and Kralupy nad Vltavou refineries, and processing of the steam cracker unit will also be resumed, at full capacity, at the same time.

The precise impact on UNIPETROL respective refinery and petrochemical unit utilisation and estimated financial loss of Unipetrol Group is subject to further evaluation and analysis.
