Sales Summary for August 2014

Total company sales showed a year-on-year growth by 4.0% in August. Same store sales of retail and online stores also grew 4.5% to the previous year. Although harsh weather conditions including a large scale typhoon and torrential rains, sales results were positive. Summer items such as shirts, cut and sewn, skirts and pants strongly moved due to final clearance sales initiatives. In addition to favorable results of commemorative products of our 25th year's anniversary and purchased items of winter outer wear, fall products started to move in accordance with a temperature drop. These phenomena contributed to the sales growth of existing stores of retail and online.

For reference, the effect of one more Sunday compared to a year ago would have been +1.8% to the same store sales of retail and online.

The following items were especially popular in the month under review:

Shirts, Pants, Down coats, Sneakers, Bags, etc.

Shirts, Cut and sewn, Skirts, Dresses, Down coats, Sneakers, etc.

Q&A Please let us know sales trends in August. While the existing store sales of retail and online declined to a year ago during the 2nd week due to a large scale typhoon, the trend were generally robust during the other weeks. In addition to favorable sales of summer items, continuous popularity of sneakers and early purchases of down coats generated the positive results. Fall items showed a good start in the late of the month to boost the existing store sales. Please provide us reasons for the high results of online salesShipments of sneakers, down coats and other items which had received advance orders contributed to the satisfactory sales. Why were SBU sales weak?Weak results of Another Edition and Jewel Changes pushed down the total SBU existing store sales. How was a start of fall items sales?Demand for items such as shirts and knitwear grew in accordance to a temperature drop in the late of the month. We also saw a customer trend to purchase items for use in the future if they consider the products had a sufficient value. The phenomenon was found in robust sales of down coats.
