UPS (NYSE: UPS) today announced that it has been awarded the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certification by the Customs and Excise Department (C&ED) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The certification strengthens UPS's customs-to-business partnership with authorities, and supports international trade by enhancing supply chain security and improving business processes.

"As a strategic logistics partner, UPS is committed to enabling our customers to expand regionally and globally in a more efficient manner. Our customers will benefit from customs simplification and speedy clearance to improve their competitiveness in a global market place," said William Ng, Managing Director of UPS Hong Kong and Macau.

As an AEO certified carrier, UPS is able to streamline its daily operations and maintain a high standard of reliable service quality to build loyalty through enhancing the customer experience and driving satisfaction.

The Hong Kong AEO Programme presents the accreditation of AEO to companies that are in compliance with the World Customs Organisation (WCO) SAFE Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade. The open and voluntary program, administered by the C&ED, aims to strengthen security and efficiency of legitimate trade by encouraging industries to ensure integrity of their security practices when engaging in the supply chain.
