LORAIN, Ohio - United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John P. Surma will host U.S. Sen. Rob Portman (OH) at U. S. Steel's Lorain Tubular Operations facility on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at 9 a.m. for a tour of the recently commissioned #6 Quench and Temper finishing line.

Sen. Portman is a member of the Senate Budget; Armed Services; Energy and Natural Resources; and Homeland Security and Government Affairs committees. Previously, Sen. Portman served as U.S. Trade Representative and as director of the Office of Management and Budget.

The #6 Quench & Temper line represents a $100 million investment by U. S. Steel into Lorain Tubular Operations to better serve the company's oil and natural gas customers, particularly those in shale resource development. Lorain Tubular Operations employs more than 700 Ohioans and its products contribute to U. S. Steel's standing as North America's largest integrated tubular products manufacturer.
