URS Develops New Prefabricated Cryogenic Gas Plant Packages

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - March 26, 2014 - URS Corporation has completed design of a new, full product line of prefabricated cryogenic gas plant packages that remove condensed ethane and natural gas liquids at natural gas processing plants.

The cryogenic packages are based on the gas-subcooled process (GSP) and may be tweaked easily to obtain maximized propane recovery while in ethane rejection mode. Available in three plant sizes-60, 120, and 200 MMSCFD (million standard cubic feet/day)-the design can be tailored to meet a processor's gas compositions ranging from 2 to 10 gpm (gal/MSCF) liquid content while maintaining maximum product recoveries.

"Our focus is to provide a complete solution to the natural gas processor," stated Ken Martinez, Senior Vice President, Engineering and Operations & Maintenance, at URS. "By offering engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction services for the complete gas plant installation, we are able to execute projects safely, on a cost-effective, turnkey basis, while delivering optimum value to our customers."

To meet processors' deadlines while ensuring quality control, equipment for the cryogenic plant is pre-inventoried and manufactured at URS fabrication facilitates in Texas and Wyoming. The fabrication process equipment team manufactures the majority of the components used in gas plants with the remaining equipment typically custom manufactured on a per-project basis.

"Being able to pre-manufacture most of the equipment and provide the remaining components from a single source results in significant schedule savings on most projects," noted Steve Russom, Senior Vice President, U.S. Operations, Oil & Gas, at URS. "The prefabricated cryogenic gas plant packages are an example of the advanced technologies that are now available to the natural gas industry on a highly cost effective basis."
