URS Selected by We Energies to Provide EPC Services for Coal to Gas Conversion Project

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - April 21, 2014 - URS Corporation has been selected by We Energies to provide engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services to convert the Valley Power Plant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from coal to natural gas to help reduce operating costs and enhance the plant's environmental performance.

The Valley Power Plant has two 140-megawatt generating units, each comprised of two boilers and one steam-turbine generator. Under its contract, URS will provide services to convert the existing boilers, which entail removing the existing coal-burning equipment, installing natural-gas piping and burners, and modifying the combustion controls. The project also requires modifying or replacing auxiliary systems, equipment, and plant controls. Completion of the conversion is targeted for late 2015 or early 2016.

"URS is pleased to continue serving We Energies for whom we have performed a number of complex EPC projects, including the most recently completed air quality control project at its South Oak Creek plant in Oak Creek, Wisconsin," said Art Lembo, General Manager for URS' Power Group. "URS and We Energies have formed a strong working relationship for the execution of both new generation and air quality retrofit projects since 2000 and earned several industry awards in the process."
