U.S. Bank, the fifth-largest bank in the country with 32 branches in Santa Clara County, is expanding its presence in the market with a new, state-of-the-art branch in San Jose’s bustling Santana Row.

The new branch, located at 377 Santana Row, opened for business this week and will host a series of events leading up to the grand opening and ribbon cutting on February 4.

“The U.S. Bank branch at Santana Row represents several important commitments U.S. Bank has made to its customers,” said John Elmore, vice chairman and head of community banking at U.S. Bank. “First, it represents our commitment to branch banking. While some industry observers think branches are past their prime, we have a different view. We believe customers want and need branches, or more importantly, they want and need the personal interaction with bankers.

“Second, U.S. Bank is committed to delivering new technology that makes banking easy when customers prefer to make simple transactions themselves. The U.S. Bank at Santana Row integrates the high touch service of a branch and bankers, with the ease of self-service kiosks where customers can cash checks and perform many other functions above and beyond a traditional ATM.”

U.S. Bank at Santana Row is staffed with specialists in home loans, retirement planning, wealth management and small business as well as a customer advisor who is a seasoned banker, focused on assisting the customers with whatever needs have brought them into the branch.

“We have made all of the services that U.S. Bank has to offer quickly accessible to customers who frequent Santana Row,” said Ross Carey, executive vice president and head of metropolitan banking for U.S. Bank on the West Coast. “Our customer advisor will quickly understand the customer’s needs and direct them to the right resources. This approach makes consumer and business lending, mortgages or retirement planning easy and convenient to Santana Row clients.”

Charging benches and new technology
U.S. Bank will promote the new branch with “charging benches” along the sidewalk throughout Santana Row where visitors can take a break from their day and keep their mobile device charging at the same time. The benches are an example of U.S. Bank’s commitment to emerging technology, which is also visible in the numerous banking services that U.S. Bank makes available to customers on their mobile devices – tablet or smartphone. Retail businesses in Santana Row will appreciate the services U.S. Bank offers today and will offer in the future via mobile that are aimed at highlighting local businesses and offers to customers.

Community support
The new branch also features a community room available to customers and businesses for meetings or events. The room is available free of charge and seats up to 25 people comfortably. U.S. Bank encourages groups to take advantage of it. Among the key events U.S. Bank will host in the community room this year is a fraud prevention seminar offering tips to business owners on how to detect and guard against fraud.

U.S. Bank, along with the community’s beloved San Francisco 49ers and the 49ers Foundation, will commemorate the grand opening of U.S. Bank at Santana Row with a donation of $10,000 to Cabrillo Middle School in support of the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute's Chevron STEMZONE in collaboration with the Silicon Valley Education Foundation. The institute focuses on teaching science, technology, engineering and math to youth by “preparing and inspiring talented learners to meet the challenges of society through innovation, collaboration and creative problem-solving.” Representatives of the 49ers organization will make the donation with U.S. Bank on Wednesday, Feb. 4. U.S. Bank will also teach financial education at Cabrillo in coming months.
