GREENGAURD Gold certification underscores USG's commitment to producing
some of the world's most innovative and sustainable building materials

Chicago, IL (April 11, 2016) - USG Corporation (NYSE: USG), a world leader in building materials and technologies, has earned GREENGUARD Gold certification for more than 200 low-emitting products through the UL Environment GREENGUARD program.

The GREENGUARD Certification program, part of the UL Environment business unit of Underwriters Laboratories, requires compliance to stringent emissions standards that are broadly recognized and accepted by sustainable building programs and building codes around the world. GREENGUARD certification helps consumers choose building materials with lower VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions, which improves indoor air quality.

USG Corporation has one of the highest percentages of its wallboard, ceiling, joint treatment, plaster and other products meeting the GREENGUARD Gold standard compared to competitors. To receive GREENGUARD Gold certification, products must: adhere to stricter certification criteria than for standard GREENGUARD compliance, account for additional safety factors that may impact health sensitive individuals like children or the elderly, and be appropriate for use in environments like schools and healthcare facilities. Additional USG products, including cornerbead, underlayments, and textures are currently being tested for GREENGUARD certification.

'USG is committed to reducing our environmental footprint and giving our customers high-quality, safe building materials,' said Al Zucco, senior director, Sustainability and Energy, USG Corporation. 'We rigorously test each of our products and share that information to help our customers make informed decisions about the materials that create the places where we live, work and play.'

New Product Attribute Reports (PARs) are also available on usg.com, providing comprehensive environmental and health safety information to help architects, builders and contractors understand a product's life-cycle impacts.
