Vale SA : Brazil's Vale 2Q Iron Ore Output at 80.5 Million Tons

RIO DE JANEIRO--Brazilian mining company Vale SA (VALE, VALE5.BR) said late Wednesday that iron ore production rose 15% in the second quarter from the first three months of the year as weather conditions improved.
Vale produced 80.5 million tons of the key steel-making material during the quarter, according to a regulatory filing. In the second quarter, output of nickel at the company slipped 3.6% from the first quarter to 61,000 metric tons.
Vale is the world's biggest iron-ore miner and second-largest nickel producer.
