VCA Animal Hospitals announced that select VCA hospitals in California are offering free boarding assistance for small animals, including dogs, cats, birds and pocket pets, whose families have lost their homes or are among those evacuated due to the devastating wildfires. Firefighters in San Diego County continued their multi-day assault against several wildfires that so far have scorched 31 square miles.

“Our thoughts are with the families in San Diego who are being impacted by these wildfires and we are extending free boarding for small family pets that have been displaced,” said Art Antin, Chief Operating Officer of VCA Animal Hospitals. “We want families to know that they can take care of their priorities during this critical time and feel confident that their pets are being cared for in a safe environment.”

Boarding assistance at participating California VCA hospitals is based on space availability. Pets should be current on vaccinations, but in case they are not, VCA veterinarians will update vaccinations free of charge. Pet owners are encouraged to contact any one of the following VCA hospitals for boarding assistance and more information.
