Vectren customers recycle 5,000th refrigerator; cash in on 2,500 high-efficiency A/C rebates
Evansville, Ind. - Recently surpassing the fourth year of Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana's (Vectren) electric energy efficiency offerings, customer participation remains strong as evidenced by the utility recently awarding rebates for the 5,000th recycled refrigerator/freezer and the 2,500th new high-efficiency
air conditioner.
"Customer response to Vectren's energy efficiency programs has been extremely positive," said Robbie Sears, vice president of customer energy solutions. "Not only are we helping our customers reduce usage, but we are helping them save money."
Vectren estimates the energy savings from customer participation in all of its electric energy efficiency programs to be approximately 6.7 million kilowatt hours (kWh), which translates to enough energy to power nearly 600 homes for one year.
Electric service rebates include:
$300 - Central Air Conditioning Unit, at least 16 SEER
$400 - Air Source Heat Pump, at least 16 SEER, No gas service available on or adjacent to property
$300 - Air Source Heat Pump, at least 16 SEER, Gas service available on or adjacent to property
$300 - Dual-Fuel Air Source Heat Pump, at least 16 SEER
$60 - Electronically Commutated Motor (ECM)
Before purchasing new equipment, customers are encouraged to verify all eligibility requirements are met. Eligibility requirements, as well as rebate forms, can be found on the Vectren website.
Appliance RecyclingRecycling an extra refrigerator or freezer can save up to $200 annually on energy costs. Customers can earn a $30 cash rebate when they let Vectren recycle their fridge or freezer. Vectren will pick up the appliance for free.
New Home Construction Program
Customers can earn rebates when building new, energy-efficient homes with Vectren's Residential New
Construction Program. The Program offers rebates to builders and developers for homes constructed to
Silver Star, Gold Star or Platinum Star standards.
The Summer Cycler program is a voluntary energy management program that briefly cycles select appliances in customers' homes during periods of peak electricity demand. By joining the Summer Cycler
program, customers can earn bill credits up to $28 per cooling season from June through September.
