Pipeline project underway in Evansville; Copperline Road closure expected through Thursday

Evansville, Ind. - Contract crews employed by Vectren Energy Delivery (Vectren), have been working on a

$9.3 million project to retrofit, or upgrade, as well as pressure test Vectren's 12-inch natural gas pipeline stretching from its Oliver Storage Field to the Kasson Station on Evansville's west side. The purpose of this project is to perform retrofits to ensure tools inserted within the pipeline during testing - in-line inspections - can efficiently detect abnormalities, such as mechanical damage, cracks or corrosion. The retrofits will also allow for more efficient testing of the pipeline going forward. This project is one of several gas infrastructure improvements being made during Vectren's multi-year plan to modernize its gas infrastructure throughout Indiana.

"To ensure the continued reliability of our natural gas pipeline system, Vectren is continuing to modernize our infrastructure throughout our Vectren South territory," said Brad Ellsworth, Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana - South president. "These infrastructure enhancements are vital to meeting federal requirements and ensuring the continued safety of our system."

For construction purposes, Copperline Road will be closed today, Monday, July 11, through Thursday, July

14. The road closure will begin between St. Phillips Road and S. Lavon Drive. Please drive safely around work crews in the area.

Construction for this project is expected to continue through September. Affected customers were notified prior to the start of work. Others with questions are encouraged to contact Customer Service at 1-800-227- 1376.
