Veidekke Entreprenør has signed a contract with the Bergen Diakonissehjem Foundation to build a rock cavern parking facility for 345 vehicles at Haraldsplass Diakonale Sykehus in Bergen. This will be a turnkey contract valued at NOK 100 million, excluding VAT.

The contract comprises building a 90-metre entry/exit tunnel which leads to two parallel rock caverns, each of which will be 85 metres in length. Here there will be parking on three levels in both caverns. Veidekke will additionally build a 100-metre pedestrian tunnel that subsequently will be linked to a new ward.

"Cavern parking facilities are not new to Veidekke in Bergen. We built the Kloster garage with 940 parking spaces, which opened in 2005, and we are currently building 1,500 parking spaces in rock beneath Sartor Senter that will be completed in November. We are very pleased with winning the contract and look forward to starting in Ulriksdal at Haraldsplass," says District Manager Ingmar Austevoll of Veidekke.

Planning work has already started. Actual construction work starts in June, and everything is scheduled for completion in October 2015.
