On the eve of the Paris Climate Change Conference (COP 21), 39 major French companies - including Veolia - employing 4.4 million people worldwide and generating a total turnover of 1.2 trillion euros, make a commitment to combating climate change through the French Business Climate Pledge.
These 39 major French companies want to contribute to making COP 21 a success and to limiting the rise of global temperatures to +2°C. As leaders in their sectors, they thus reaffirm their commitment to creating a more sustainable world. Between 2016 and 2020 they plan to invest at least 45 billion euros in industrial projects and R&D devoted to renewable energy, energy efficiency and low-carbon technologies. They also plan to finance projects for at least 80 billion euros designed to help combat climate change.
Through this Climate Pledge, Antoine Frérot, Veolia's CEO, once again confirms the Group's commitment to combating climate change. On 23 November he signed the open letter that was sent at the instigation of the World Economic Forum by 78 CEOs of large international groups to world leaders calling on them to come to an ambitious climate agreement.
