Veolia Environnement : put on the "A List" by CDP for its commitment to fighting climate change

The non-profit organization Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the world leader in corporate ratings based on their action against climate change, has just placed Veolia on the A List for the fiscal year 2015. CDP and Euronext presented the honor to Pierre Victoria, the Group's Director of Sustainable Development, in the presence of Ségolène Royal, Minister of Environment, Energy and the Sea, and responsible for international relations on climate.
The CDP is a leading global environmental information system that independently assesses the impact of companies on climate change, and provides investors with the extra-financial ratings they need to make decisions.
In 2015, 5,500 businesses representing 20% of global carbon emission produced by companies, responded to the annual CDP questionnaire. Only 193 of them are on the A List.

Companies are key actors in enabling the global economy to achieve its new climate goals, and the leadership of this group points the way for others to take bold action and capitalize on the many opportunities that await,' explains CDP's chief executive officer Paul Simpson.
Veolia enables its municipal and industrial customers to mitigate their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, in particular by developing the energy efficiency of buildings, diversifying the energy mix for district heating, and deploying circular economy solutions. The Group also helps its customers to adapt to climate change by offering solutions that make cities and industries more resilient to extreme climate events.
Veolia's climate commitments
► 'Sustainably manage natural resources by supporting the circular economy'. 2020 goal: achieve €3.8 billion in revenue linked to circular economy.
► 'Contribute to combating climate change'. 2020 goals: achieve 50 million metric tons of CO equivalent of avoided emissions and achieve 100 million metric tons of CO equivalent reduced emissions for the period spanning 2015 to 2020 (6 years); capture over 60% of methane from the landfills Veolia operates.

Veolia Environnement is the world leader in environmental management services. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
- water-related services (40.6%; No. 1 worldwide): water resources management, drinking water distribution and delivery, wastewater collection, treatment and recovery, engineering, design, construction of water treatment facilities and customer relationship management, etc.;
- waste management services (32.4%; no. 1 worldwide): collection, treatment and recycling of liquid, solid, non-hazardous and hazardous waste, waste treatment and recovery through composting, energy recovery from waste, etc. Veolia Environnement also provides urban waste management services (maintenance and cleaning of public spaces, provision of mechanized street cleaning and façade treatment services), maintenance of industrial sites, and dismantling of industrial facilities and equipment at the end of their useful life;
- energy services (27%; No. 1 in Europe): delegated management of urban heating and air conditioning networks, management of thermal and multi-technique services (operation of heating systems, facility design, construction, and maintenance, etc.) and industrial services (industrial process analysis, production equipment operation, service, and maintenance), general management of buildings and public lighting.
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: France (21.5%), Europe (41.9%), North America (7.4%), Asia (5.6%), Africa and the Middle East (4.9%), Pacific (4.3%), Latin America (4%) and other (10.4%).
