[Attachment] Tennessee's new Electronic Insurance Verification System (EIVS) is gearing up to begin their letter campaign for motorists found to not have auto liability insurance coverage. A series of four letters will be sent to motorists when the state's EIVS is unable to confirm coverage for a VIN registered in Tennessee, in the following sequence:
Request for information letter: Informs motorist that coverage has not been confirmed for their vehicle and they have 30 days to complete an online questionnaire to verify coverage.
First notice: Indicates motorist has 30 days to complete an online questionnaire verifying they have coverage or they will receive a $25 fine.
Final notice: Informs motorist they have been fined $25 and have 30 days to complete an online questionnaire verifying they have coverage or they will receive an additional $100 fine and their vehicle registration will be suspended.
Revocation notice: Informs motorist they have been fined $125 and their registration has been suspended.
