VILLA WORLD KICKSTARTS CONSTRUCTION AT THORNLANDS

Construction has kickstarted on the first development in the new South East Thornlands Structure Plan which will guide and manage future development in the South-east Thornlands Major Development Area (MDA).

Villa World, one of Australia's largest integrated housing providers, has started civil construction on the 177-lot development Waterline. With stage one lots ranging from 408 - 1097sqm lots, Waterline offers sought after bay views from the higher section of the property, has easy access to local arterial roads and is bounded by native bushland.

Redlands Mayor Cr Karen Williams, Villa World's Development Director Carl Bruhn and Development Manager Peter Johnson turned the first sod on site recently to recognise the significance of further development for Villa World in Thornlands.

"The Redlands  is a very popular area for home buyers but residential development has been constrained in the past due to limited availability of sizeable land parcels, said Mr Bruhn.

"The new Council has focussed on a strategy based on solid economic development,  combined with sustainable, ecologically sound planning outcomes.

"This strategy has provided Villa World with the opportunity to build on the success of our Mt Cotton Village development with the acquisition of three key sites at Thornlands (East Ridge,
Waterline) and Capalaba (Era) to give Redlands residents the opportunity to purchase quality housing products at an  obtainable price.

"The South East Thornlands Structure plan which was approved by the previous Redland City Council in 2010, sets a clear vision for the area, including the integration of housing within a regional network of cycle and foot paths, open space regional parklands, facilities and traffic connectivity.

"There is strong demand for new housing under $500,000 from the local community, and our nearby development at Mt Cotton is close to selling out, so we are anticipating strong buyer interest in our Waterline development.
