20 small wine-grape producers in the Maule area will benefit from an agreement signed recently between INDAP (a government agricultural development agency) and Viña Concha y Toro, as part of the Productive Partnerships program.

Concha y Toro will work together with the País grape variety producers to help them technically in the whole production process, thus providing them with new development opportunities and improvements in managing their properties.

"We consider the grape producers as our strategic partners, contributing with their work and raw material to the spirit of excellence and quality that the company seeks. We intend to maintain close relations and a fluid dialogue with them through long-term relationships. We hope that this program will mean an accompaniment in their business and further strengthen our good relations, while bringing benefits for the community", said Rodrigo Ortúzar, grape and wine purchasing manager.

"The purpose of the Productive Partnership is for the private-sector company to pass on its knowledge in wine production development. I sincerely congratulate the producers for daring to accept this challenge and Concha y Toro for this desire to be able to help them progress with faster processes and to improve commercialization", said Paulina Tapia, INDAP's head of development.

The company ́s work contemplates an initial diagnosis of the property in order to establish the work plan and the activities to be carried out. It also includes technical and quality assistance, technical assistance in primary production and vineyard management, and the formulation of investment projects. Not only can the volume of grapes be improved but their quality, their innocuousness, traceability and productive efficiency.

This project forms part of the company's social responsibility policy and is oriented to supporting and dignifying the growing of Chile's emblematic varieties. It is principally directed to the work of producers of traditional varieties like the País grape, used directly in the production of Specialties, the most recent launch of Concha y Toro's Frontera line of wines.
