Violin Memory®, Inc., (NYSE:VMEM) a global pioneer of award-winning all flash storage platform solutions for primary storage and active workloads, today announced four new Fortune® 1000 customer wins and deployments for its Flash Storage Platform (FSP), the ultimate enterprise storage solution for the consolidation and simplification of next generation data center workloads, delivering continuous data protection and the highest performance storage at the lowest CAPEX and OPEX possible today.

Ranked by revenue, Fortune Magazine’s top 1,000 companies are among the most demanding IT customers in the world. Violin’s FSP was designed specifically to meet the complex operational requirements and demands for ultra-high levels of reliability and availability with zero down time and zero data loss, required by today’s most dynamic organizations. These four Fortune 1000 customers showcase the variety and diversity of industries and use cases for Violin’s FSP:

  1. A leading global provider of solar systems wanted to optimize its virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) deployment. High reliability and availability combined with low latency were needed to allow it to create detailed solar panel renderings and stunning visual designs remotely, and without disruptions that could impact day-to-day business processes. The customer implemented Violin 7300 FSPs providing remote access to AutoCAD data, allowing users to reduce time and costs by creating engineering and design project drafts before developing the physical model. The customer is utilizing Violin all flash solutions within the new VDI environment to power several other engineering-focused applications.
  2. A premier diversified energy provider operating in a competitive, regulated market wanted to meet the needs of their growing customer base, as well as process and complete online orders, quickly and efficiently. With real-time SLA commitments and the need to keep their critical daily operations optimized to meet customer needs, this energy provider implemented Violin 7300 FSPs to achieve scalability, reliability, data protection and performance in all its data center systems. In addition to managing online transaction processing in their expanding virtualized IT environment, the customer is utilizing Violin all flash solutions to power other gas and energy-related applications.
  3. One of the world's leading providers of engineered products and services for infrastructure, and irrigation equipment for agriculture wanted to bolster the performance of their Oracle database environment supporting their tier one and tier two infrastructure and billing applications. The customer decided to replace an existing hybrid flash array installment with a Violin 7300 FSP to leverage a purpose-built flash environment that would enable them to get fast, reliable access to data to meet the ever-growing needs of its customer base.
  4. A global leader in embedded processing solutions for automotive, consumer, industrial and networking markets had used Violin all flash arrays for their existing virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) to support designers who needed highly secured access to their high-performance computing infrastructure and electronic design automation (EDA) applications. Implementing Violin’s 7300 FSP the customer will benefit from data reduction technologies and recognize significant cost savings for their enterprises that are managing tens to hundreds of terabytes of capacity.

“Large IT operations in the biggest companies around the world recognize the performance and value advantages of moving primary storage applications to flash. At the same time, they also recognize the need to integrate flash solutions that are designed specifically to meet a wide range of enterprise applications today and can scale to meet future requirements as well,” said Kevin DeNuccio, chief executive officer, Violin Memory. “In today’s dynamic global business environment, our Flash Storage Platform is increasingly the enterprise flash solution of choice.”
