Violin Memory®, Inc., (NYSE: VMEM) a leading provider of all-flash storage arrays and appliances delivering application solutions for enterprises, today announced that IKYU Corporation, a Japan-based Corporation that provides reservation services for luxury hotels and resorts, has selected the Violin 6000 All Flash Array solution to support its mission-critical system as the corporation adds additional new services. Violin delivered the array solution working closely with its channel partner, Macnica Networks, a Japanese leading importer, developer and distributor of network products and solutions.

IKYU Corporation operates five large-scale web sites including www.ikyu.com which supports online reservations for more than 1,500 of Japan’s select hotels, resorts and spas. To renew their mission-critical system for expected performance expansion and the addition of new services such as point services, IKYU was looking for a solution that enables the acceleration and sustained stability of their system without decreasing the service levels of their online web site.

“Violin’s easy-to-install all-flash array solution was easy to deploy for our mission-critical system,” said Mr. Akihito Kanno, CIO with IKYU Corporation. “We anticipated high implementation costs, but when considering the on-going operational expenses, Violin’s price was not much different than other storage products, yet the solutions offered substantially more performance, density, and resiliency. Moreover, Violin arrays were well-suited with our current server system provider, Stratus Technologies. The result was server system acceleration, improved stability and reduced workload across the system. We are looking forward to receiving continued powerful solutions from Violin Memory and support capabilities from Macnica Networks.”

Violin all-flash array solutions deliver industry-leading input/output (I/O) and ultra-low data access latencies not possible with traditional storage systems. With full resiliency and a full software suite of storage services, the Violin 6000 family provides high reliability with hot swapping for non-disruptive hardware maintenance. In order to provide the best service to its customers IKYU required one million IOPS. Violin’s all-flash array delivered one million IOPS, while also providing higher reliability compared to other flash storage products.

With the deployment of Violin all-flash arrays, IKYU’s online web application improved query response times to deliver immediate request results within a few seconds to support 80 million data reads without caching technology. Batch processing times were 8x faster. Violin all-flash arrays also improved operational efficiency not only with simple processing time reduction, but also with a significant increase in the number of parallel processing threads concurrently executable.

“We are very pleased to complete the delivery of Violin all-flash arrays to IKYU Corporation and to work closely with Violin Memory as their channel partner in Japan,” said Mr. Akinori Kato, Macnica Networks. “Together with Violin, Magnica Networks has delivered an ultra-high-speed, fault-tolerant platform for IKYU and we look forward to supporting IKYU’s ongoing storage needs for better performance and reliability.”
