SAN JOSE, CALIF., May 5, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vocera Communications, Inc. (NYSE:VCRA), the leading provider of real-time, intelligent communication solutions for mission-critical healthcare environments, today announced that two company executives have been recognized for their professional accomplishments and influence in healthcare and technology.

M. Bridget Duffy, MD, chief medical officer, was recently named "Woman of the Year" by Women Health Care Executives (WHCE), and recognized as one of the "Most Influential Women in Business for 2015" by the San Francisco Business Times. Additionally, Sandra Miley, vice president of marketing, was named one of Silicon Valley Business Journal's "2015 Women of Influence."

"These accolades are well deserved. Bridget and Sandra are not only committed to their work to improve healthcare, they are both role models for women executives and other leaders in the industry," said Brent Lang, president and CEO of Vocera. "We are proud of their achievements and look forward to their future endeavors as they continue to blaze a trail for advancing women in business, healthcare and technology."

Dr. Duffy, considered the founder and leader of the patient experience movement, was the country's first chief experience officer in healthcare, establishing that role at the Cleveland Clinic in 2006. An early pioneer in the creation of hospitalist medicine, Dr. Duffy has spent more than 20 years defining the components of an optimal healing environment and designing ways to humanize healthcare. In addition to her role as chief medical officer at Vocera, she is the co-founder of the company's thought leadership and research collaborative, the Experience Innovation Network. Dr. Duffy attended medical school at the University of Minnesota, and completed her residency in internal medicine at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She currently serves on the advisory boards of Velano Vascular and Maven Clinic, and is on the board of directors of Rock Health, Essia Health and Children's HeartLink.

A leader in enterprise and technology marketing, Miley brings an accomplished track record of developing compelling brands and driving growth for numerous successful high-tech companies in Silicon Valley. In addition, she serves as a strategic advisor and mentor to women-led businesses through the Bay Area and was recently voted to the United Way of Silicon Valley Board. Miley is also a partner member of SV2 (Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund), a partnership for giving grants in the areas of Education, Health, Environmental Sustainability and International Development.
