Audi May Global Sales Up 14% On Year At 128,900 Cars

German car manufacturer Volkswagen AG's (>> Volkswagen AG) premium brand Audi AG (>> Audi AG) Monday said it has set itself a new sales target for the year after reporting double digit growth in May global sales, due to strong performance in China, the U.S. and Germany.
MAIN FACTS:
-Audi said it has set itself a new global sales target of 1.4 million cars by the end of the year.
-Global sales in May rose 14% on the year to 128,900 units, with sales in China increasing 44% on the year to 36,278 units, and sales in the U.S. rising 10% to 11,503 cars.
-Sales in Germany rose 8.1% to 25,307 units in May, especially due to strong performance of the new Audi A6 model.
-For the January to May period, global sales increased 12% to 600,200 cars.
