ŠKODA AUTO opened its new "Lean Center" in Mladá Boleslav.
This training centre will school staff and suppliers
regarding optimised processes in production and in
administration. To this end, ŠKODA is investing about 5.3
million in this new four-story training complex with a
total floor space of 5,657 sqm. Worldwide, ŠKODA now
operates more than 25 training centres.
"ŠKODA is set to grow strongly in the years ahead, raising
its sales to at least 1.5 million cars per year by 2018,"
says Bohdan Wojnar, ŠKODA board member for human resources.
"To achieve profitable growth, we need to keep our team's
know-how at the topmost level permanently. The new 'Lean
Center' will let us make better use of synergies in
training staff for a continuous improvement of processes
and sequences. This trainings centre creates and additional
foundation for a successful implementation of the 2018
growth strategy."
At the 'Lean Center' staff and suppliers will receive
comprehensive training regarding 'lean production' and
'lean management.' At the heart of the philosophy of 'lean
production/management' is an efficient company which
permanently improves itself with a view to make production
simpler, more efficient, of higher quality and more
economical.
"Improving our processes is especially important in the
context of our growth strategy and securing our long-term
competitiveness. The new 'Lean Center' will support us in
preparing our staff as best we can for this challenge,"
says Michael Oeljeklaus, ŠKODA's board member in charge of
production and logistics.
The 'Lean Center' in Mladá Boleslav is ŠKODA largest
trainings centre of this kind in the Czech Republic.
Training rooms, including those for the training areas of
assembly and body construction, are located on four floors
and an area of 5,657. Both abstract and practical classes
are taught by Volkswagen Group-certified trainers.
Including the new 'Lean Center,' ŠKODA now operates 25
education centres including operations in India, Russia and
China.
