"ŠKODA is set to grow strongly in the years ahead, raising its sales to at least 1.5 million cars per year by 2018," says Bohdan Wojnar, ŠKODA board member for human resources. "To achieve profitable growth, we need to keep our team's know-how at the topmost level permanently. The new 'Lean Center' will let us make better use of synergies in training staff for a continuous improvement of processes and sequences. This trainings centre creates and additional foundation for a successful implementation of the 2018 growth strategy."

At the 'Lean Center' staff and suppliers will receive comprehensive training regarding 'lean production' and 'lean management.' At the heart of the philosophy of 'lean production/management' is an efficient company which permanently improves itself with a view to make production simpler, more efficient, of higher quality and more economical.

"Improving our processes is especially important in the context of our growth strategy and securing our long-term competitiveness. The new 'Lean Center' will support us in preparing our staff as best we can for this challenge," says Michael Oeljeklaus, ŠKODA's board member in charge of production and logistics.

The 'Lean Center' in Mladá Boleslav is ŠKODA largest trainings centre of this kind in the Czech Republic. Training rooms, including those for the training areas of assembly and body construction, are located on four floors and an area of 5,657. Both abstract and practical classes are taught by Volkswagen Group-certified trainers.

Including the new 'Lean Center,' ŠKODA now operates 25 education centres including operations in India, Russia and China.
