  • Dallas Walmart creates approximately 300 new jobs
  • Store open 24 hours a day, seven days a week

DALLAS, April 16, 2014 - A new Walmart will open Wednesday, April 23, after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m. The new store at 7075 W. Wheatland Road is conveniently located in Southwest Dallas and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It will provide Dallas residents with one-stop shopping convenience for their grocery and general merchandise needs. The store also offers pharmacy services.

"This new Walmart Supercenter is a welcome addition to the community and to my district," said Vonciel Jones Hill, Dallas City Councilmember. "This store will bring hundreds of new jobs and will also provide an affordable grocery option to residents who live close by. We are excited to see it open and to have it in our neighborhood."

One-Stop Shopping Convenience
The store features quality, value-priced general merchandise, including apparel, electronics, toys, sporting goods, and lawn and garden items. It also offers a full line of groceries, including organic and natural selections in addition to local favorites.

The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions.

Community Giving
The grand-opening celebration also includes presentations of $10,000 in grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to local community groups.

In addition to the grants given as part of the grand opening, the new store will further Walmart's pledge to fight hunger in America. As part of Walmart's and the Walmart Foundation's $2 billion commitment to fight hunger through 2015, Walmart stores in Texas donated approximately 43.7 million pounds of food, in fiscal year 2013, or the equivalent of 36.4 million meals. Additionally, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $86.2 million in fiscal year 2013 in Texas alone. New Store, New Jobs
The new store employs approximately 300 full- and part-time associates. Store manager Lee Ruiz began his Walmart career in 1987 as a management trainee.

"We are excited to expand our grocery offerings and bring additional jobs to Dallas," said Ruiz. "We invite everyone to stop by and see the new expanded store, enjoy our grand-opening festivities and take advantage of vendor promotions and giveaways."

A Big Family Welcome
Walmart is happy to be part of the Dallas community and is ready to celebrate with residents on Saturday, April 26. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet Ruiz and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last. Join the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.
