Sam's Club Announces Plans to Build New Club in Springdale

SPRINGDALE, Ark., August 1-Sam's Club has announced future plans to open a brand new warehouse club for Springdale with new job opportunities and increased community access to affordable and healthier food options. The company plans to build the new club on South 56th Street near Sunset Avenue. Approximately 175 jobs will be created as a result of the new club which is scheduled to open in the spring of 2016.

"We are so excited Sam's Club sees the value of doing business in our community," said Springdale Mayor Doug Sprouse, "The newly announced plans for retail development along 56th street show that Springdale and the Don Tyson corridor are truly open for business."

The new club location in Springdale will be approximately 136,000 square feet and will feature a wide variety of members-only amenities, including a fresh bakery, a tire and battery center, a café and a fuel station.

"Sam's Club is thrilled to be coming to Springdale," said Sam's Club Market Manager Kurt Hess. "We are excited to about offering our members a more convenient location and meeting the needs of small business owners in this growing business community."

A number of health and wellness services will also be available. The Sam's Club Pharmacy, open to both members and the public, will feature many $4 and $10 generic prescriptions, as well as extraordinary savings on branded prescriptions. In addition to everyday low prices, the Optical Center will offers $40 off one additional pair of regularly priced prescription eyeglasses with the purchase of a complete pair of eyeglasses at regular price. Lastly, at the Hearing Aid Center, premium technology in hearing aids and personal listening devices is available from a licensed specialist.

Sam's Club and its parent company Walmart employ nearly 49,000 people in 107 Arkansas locations.
