COLUMBIA, Mo., Jan. 1, 2014 - A new Walmart Express store will open Wednesday, Jan. 8, in Columbia, bringing the campus and community everyday low prices in a smaller format store. The new store is designed to make shopping quick and easy for area customers who want to save money and find what they need close to home. The new Walmart Express store is located at 308 S. Ninth St., Suite 105, across from the northern edge of campus. The approximately 3,700-square-foot Walmart Express store features a pharmacy and offers groceries and general merchandise, including an assortment of fresh produce, dairy and meats, dry goods, consumables, health and beauty aids, over-the-counter medicines and merchandise tailored to the campus. The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions. Store manager Farai Madzura began his Walmart career in 1998 as an hourly associate. "I am excited to bring this store to the Mizzou community. Students and area residents will have a new way to save money and live better." Ribbon-Cutting Celebration at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8 Community leaders will join Walmart associates at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, for a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new store. A Big Family Welcome Walmart is happy to be part of the Mizzou campus community and is ready to celebrate with residents on Saturday, Jan. 25. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet Madzura and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting and free food samples while supplies last.
