MANOR, Texas, Feb. 12, 2014- A new Walmart will open Wednesday, Feb. 19, after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7 a.m. The new store at 11923 U.S. Highway 290 E. is conveniently located and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It will provide Manor residents with one-stop shopping convenience for their grocery and general merchandise needs. The store also offers pharmacy services.

One-Stop Shopping Convenience
The store features quality, value-priced general merchandise, including apparel, electronics, toys, sporting goods, and lawn and garden items. It also offers a full line of groceries, including organic and natural selections in addition to local favorites. One local product includes sausage from Meyer's Sausage Company.

The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and customers can ask about health and wellness solutions.

Community Giving
The grand-opening celebration also includes presentations of $8,000 in grants from Walmart to local community groups.

In addition to the grants given as part of the grand opening, the new store will further Walmart's pledge to fight hunger in America. As part of Walmart's and the Walmart Foundation's $2 billion commitment to fight hunger through 2015, Walmart stores in Texas donated approximately 43.7 million pounds of food, in fiscal year 2013, or the equivalent of 36.4 million meals. Additionally, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $86.2 million in fiscal year 2013 in Texas alone. New Store, New Jobs
The new store employs approximately 200 full- and part-time associates. Store manager Michael Lopez began his Walmart career in 2000 as an assistant manager.

"We are excited to open the new Supercenter here in Manor and are looking forward to maintaining strong relationships with the community and exceeding our customer's expectations," said Lopez. "We would love for everyone to come to the grand-opening and enjoy vendor giveaways and promotions."
