The center is located at 219 Massapoag Ave. The Sharon Adult Center welcomes adults from the many diverse populations in and around Sharon. It fosters mutual understanding and respect among its participants, staff, volunteers and community partners in order to enhance the quality of life for all.

The Sharon Adult Center is located on the lower level of the Sharon Community Center, 219 Massapoag Avenue. For more information, call the Adult Center at 781-784-8000.

Some open times available for using computer room, art room, and game room (pool table). Call for availability as there are programs and classes scheduled.

AARP Safe Driving Program: 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 25. Cost: $20; $15 for AARP. Checks payable to AARP. For information: 781-784-8000. This course is based on the latest driver safety research and insights. Participants learn evidence-based safe driving strategies in a classroom setting and refresh their knowledge of the latest rules and hazards of the road. There will be a break for lunch; attendees should bring a bag lunch and the Adult Center will supply cold drinks and cookies. Fabrien Rosen, AARP volunteer, will be the instructor.

How To Be A Successful Caregiver: 10:45 a.m. June 27. For information: 781-784-8000. Kristin Heuwold will address the importance of self-care, signs and symptoms of burnout, finding a balance between the caregiver's and care recipient's needs and how to manage both effectively. This important program is free; an rsvp for seating is suggested. Kristin is the director of community relations for comforcare home care.

"From Book to Film: The American Experience of Marriage, Adolexcence and Family Life": 6:45 p.m. July 9. Free; RSVP for seating suggested. RSVP: 781-784-8000. Local film buff Frank Mandosa returns to the Adult Center to talk about American comedies and dramas that depict the highs and lows of relationships that take part in shaping who we are. Light refreshments will be served.

RMV Near Me: 10-11:30 a.m. Fridays. The adult center has a volunteer available to assist with the following: registration renewals, change of address, duplicate license or registration, how to report a lost or stolen disability placard and how to request a replacement, and license renewals for licensed drivers under the age of 75. Our volunteer can also assist with paperwork for the real id, although you will need to go to a registry or aaa office to complete the process. You must have a valid checking account or credit card to process any transaction; no cash accepted. No appointment is necessary to see the "rmv near me" volunteer. Note that the adult center is not a full-service registry - no pictures, eye exams, etc., available.

General programs - as space available; listed in order of importance

Shine counselor: 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesdays. For information: 781-784-8000. Serving health insurance needs of everyone provide information, counseling and assistance regarding health insurance and health benefits to seniors. This is a free program available to elders, their families or caregivers, and medicare beneficiaries of all ages.

Lakeside gallery / craft corner: The current show at the Lakeside Gallery is the annual Sharon Photography Club exhibit, on display until Aug. 29. Gallery hours: Monday-Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Friday 9 a.m. to noon. The Craft Corner features for sale handmade items by Sharon residents. Hours: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; other hours by appointment.
