Walt Disney : Disney News This Week: 'Inside Out' Has Biggest Opening Ever for an Original Movie, ABC News Wins Five Edward R. Murrow Awards and Disney Interactive Launches 'Disney Gif'

Last weekend, Disney•Pixar's Inside Out had the biggest opening for an original movie in history, with more than $90 million in domestic box office. Inside Out topped the previous No. 1 original movie, Avatar, by more than $13 million. This marks the second highest Pixar opening of all time-only 2010's Toy Story 3 is higher-and Friday box office for Inside Out ($34.2 million) makes it Pixar's second largest opening day. The film, directed by Pete Docter (Up, Monsters, Inc.), and featuring the voices of Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling and Phyllis Smith, opened Friday, June 19.
ABC News was honored by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) with five Edward R. Murrow Awards, including Overall Excellence in Television and Overall Excellence in Radio. In his letter congratulating ABC News Staff, ABC News President James Goldston said, "The RTDNA judges awarded ABC News with its two highest achievements praising the breadth and depth of our journalism as having 'top-notch' daily news coverage, 'extremely creative' special programming and feature work and 'outstanding' writing."
Today, Disney Interactive announced the launch of Disney Gif, a mobile keyboard extension that lets users easily send gifs and emojis of their favorite stories and characters via text, email and other messaging and social platforms. Disney Gif features content from Disney's Frozen, Star Wars, ABC's Scandal, Disney•Pixar's Inside Out, classic Disney films and much more. With this app, Disney is enabling fans to express themselves using beloved Disney characters and stories both through text and email messaging as well as on the increasing number of social platforms that support gif content. Disney emoji have been incredibly popular, with the #StarWarsEmojis generating more than 1 billion impressions on Twitter in the two weeks after their reveal at Star Wars Celebration.

- operation of theme parks and hotel resorts (33.9%): operation, as of 01/10/2022, of 10 theme parks (35 hotels) located in the United States (Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort and Aulani; 6 theme parks and 23 hotels), France (Disneyland Paris; 2 theme parks and 7 hotels), Japan (Tokyo Disney Resort; 2 theme parks and 5 hotels), Hong Kong (Hong Kong Disneyland; 1 theme park and 3 hotels) and China (Shanghai Disney Resort; 1 theme park and 2 hotels). The group is also involved in cruise sales (Disney Cruise Line), travel organization (Disney Vacation Club and Adventures By Disney), design and development of parks and other real estate properties, and sale of consumer products (children's books, toys, game software, films, etc.);
- operation of TV and radio channels (33.4%): domestic channels (Disney Channels, ESPN, ESPN Radio, Freeform, FX Channels and National Geographic Channels) and international channels (Disney, ESPN, Fox, National Geographic and Star). The group is also developing film post-production and website operation businesses;
- video streaming (23.1%);
- audiovisual content production and distribution (9.6%): TV programs, animated films, TV series, music, live entertainment, etc.
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: Americas (81.5%), Europe (10.4%) and Asia/Pacific (8.1%).
