The technology group Wärtsilä has signed a long-term lease with Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company to relocate its headquarter operations to the Salmisaari district of Helsinki. Wärtsilä will be moving from Hakaniemi to Salmisaari during summer 2018, providing a modern, nearly 11,000 square metre workspace for all of Wärtsilä's almost 500 employees working in the capital city area. Also Eniram, acquired in the summer of 2016 and currently located in the Lauttasaari district, will move into the new premises.

During its 183-year history, Wärtsilä has regenerated itself every time the business has developed further. Now the Group is undergoing a large transition into a technology service company, which poses a demand for new kinds of premises. Wärtsilä Helsinki Campus will feature the latest smart technology and promote new ways of working with sustainability in focus.

'Moving into new premises provides us an opportunity to develop our corporate culture and our daily work. It's perfectly in line with Wärtsilä's growth strategy and our goal to enable sustainable societies with smart technology,' says Jaakko Eskola, President and CEO of Wärtsilä.

Before moving in, the premises located in the address Hiililaiturinkuja 2 and currently occupied by Danske Bank, will be remodelled together with Wärtsilä personnel and an external consultant. Built in 2009, the office complex in Salmisaari has a 'BREEAM Very Good' environmental rating and it invests in utilising renewable energy sources e.g. through installation of solar panels on the roof and enhancing the parking facilities with spaces equipped for electric cars.
