Four honorees recognized as top women within the supermarket industry

SUNBURY, PA (July 9, 2015) - Weis Markets announced today that four of its associates are the recipients of the 2015 "Top Women in Grocery" from Progressive Grocer (PG) magazine. Lucy Jason, Director of Floral Merchandising, and Kim McGregor, Director of Customer Service were both named as "Rising Stars"; and Peg Worden and Amy Zimmerman were honored in the "Store Manager" category.

Ms. Worden manages Weis Markets' Mountaintop store while Ms. Zimmerman manages its store in Brodheadsville.

Now in its ninth year, PG's "Top Women in Grocery" awards program recognizes the integral role women play across all areas of the dynamic retail food industry within the retailer and supplier communities in three sectors: Senior-Level Executives, Rising Stars and Store Managers.

"Long before formal movements were established to encourage and empower women to lean in and step up, Top Women in Grocery served as a tenacious catalyst trumpeting the fact that in an increasingly competitive marketplace, female decision-makers are an inherent, advantageous asset that progressive organizations are astutely aware can't be ignored," said Meg Major, PG's Chief Content Editor.

All honorees will be recognized in PG's June 2015 issue and will also be honored at a gala networking event and awards celebration that will take place November 12, 2015, at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, Fla. Honorees include 75 Senior-level Execs, 184 Rising Stars and 41 Store Managers. The full list of PG's 2015 Top Women in Grocery can be found here.
