New customers to be welcomed with grand opening celebration
Sunbury, PA (August 7, 2014) - Weis Markets today announced its newest location in Selinsgrove will open its doors to the public on Saturday, August 23 at 6:00 a.m. Weis plans to mark the occasion with a grand opening community celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony later that morning at 9:00 a.m.
The 66,740 square-foot flagship store, located at the intersection of Route 522 and Broad Street, and just steps away from the existing store's location will have larger fresh departments with a greater selection of organic produce, service seafood and meat departments, an international cheese section, more gourmet and ethnic foods, as well as a full-service pharmacy, deli and hot foods counter and bakery. The store's 35-seat café will offer dine-in and take out service, outdoor patio seating, and will sell 350 varieties of domestic and imported beer. The new Selinsgrove store will also have a Gas N' Go fuel station on the premise.
The new store is also designed to be eco-friendly, featuring advanced refrigeration and climate control technologies to lessen the store's impact on the environment and global warming. These technologies will reduce the store's refrigerant usage by 60 percent compared to a conventional supermarket.
Associates of the existing Selinsgrove store will transfer over to the new location upon project completion. The store is also hiring more than 100 full- and part-time associates.
