Stahl strengthens footprint in powder coatings by taking over R&D facilities of Australian company

Stahl announced that it has taken the next step in further expanding its activities in Powder Coatings. Stahl is the world market leader in surface treatment and coating solutions for flexible materials. In 2015 Stahl started with the development of Powder Coatings. Stahl will now take over the R&D facilities of OEM NuTech and will start developing products closer to the main European markets at its Spanish l´Hospitalet facility. This step strengthens Stahl's position as technology leader for UV and ULB powder coatings for heat-sensitive substrates, accelerating its speed to market.

Stahl and OEM NuTech have been working together intensively in a joint venture since July 2015. During this cooperation they have created a unique system for the development of high-quality and eco-friendly powder coatings.

Joining forces
'Increasing numbers of people want to surround themselves with pure, natural and sustainable products at home and at work,' says Uwe Siebgens, Stahl's Group Director for Performance Coatings & Polymers. 'By incorporating the R&D facilities of OEM NuTech into Stahl, we will benefit from the combination of our current innovation power and their know-how and facilities in terms of environmentally friendly powder coatings for interiors and architectural applications. We can now contribute even more substantially to meeting the increasing demand from the market by offering an innovative, sustainable and efficient solution without using VOCs.'

'Stahl has presented a unique opportunity to broaden our activities to the global market and expand on our work to date,' tells Mike McCormick, Managing Director OEM NuTech. 'We offer turnkey solutions for specific applications, which is further enhanced by Stahl's broad range of products and know-how to complement our market activities. Stahl's global presence means we can reach new markets and implement changes for a better world.'

New Center of Excellence, l'Hospitalet de Llobregat
All R&D facilities of OEM NuTech, currently located in Perth, Australia, will be transferred to Stahl's site at l'Hospitalet de Llobregat in Spain, where Stahl will open a new Center of Excellence for Powder Coatings. With the new facility, expected to open in the summer of 2018, Stahl has eight Centers of Excellence worldwide where its experts work side-by-side with partners to develop and test new applications for specific areas and industries.
