WHEELING, W.Va., Dec. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Todd F. Clossin, WesBanco (Nasdaq: WSBC) President & CEO and Gregory A. Dugan, Executive Vice President, Senior Operations Officer today announced WesBanco's integration with Apple Pay, a new category of service that will transform mobile payments with an easy and more private way to pay. Your WesBanco debit card can now combine with Apple's seamlessly integrated hardware, software and services to create a unique and incredibly intuitive purchase experience. This combination keeps payment information more secure because when adding a card with Apple Pay, the actual card number is not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers, and cashiers don't see customer names, card numbers or card security codes. Apple Pay is easy to set up and users will continue to receive all of the benefits offered by their WesBanco Debit Cards.

In participating stores, Apple Pay will work with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch, upon availability. Within apps, Apple Pay is compatible with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.

"The world is rapidly moving toward mobile payments as a preferred purchase option. We are pleased to offer WesBanco customers this exciting payment option that is complete with Apple's proven quality of service and internationally acknowledged ease of use," Mr. Clossin said.

"We appreciate our processing partner First Data's confidence in WesBanco by helping us enable our customers to become early adopters of Apple Pay. This service demonstrates WesBanco's commitment to providing our customers with the best and most current card usage opportunities," Mr. Dugan said.
