In response to the devastating impact of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie, Westpac Group today announced it will provide $100,000 in assistance to affected communities, including a donation to the Salvation Army appeal. A portion of the funds will also be put towards recovery grants for rebuilding local communities.

Westpac has partnered with the Salvation Army to accept donations at any Westpac branch nationwide. Donations can also be made online via the Salvos website, and Westpac will match all employee donations through its Matching Gifts program.

George Frazis, Chief Executive Consumer Bank at Westpac Group said: 'Our thoughts are with the people of Queensland and northern New South Wales during this difficult time, and we hope these funds will help to rebuild lives and communities after such devastating loss.

'This tragedy has had an extensive impact and we are here to support our customers. We have extended our Disaster Relief Package to customers in South East Queensland, and encourage anyone requiring financial assistance to contact us when possible so we can discuss their circumstances.'

Westpac customers requiring assistance or advice should contact Westpac Assist via the Online Hardship Form or call 1800 067 497 when possible to discuss their circumstances.
