Social Responsibility at Wienerberger

Wienerberger AG is fully aware of its enormous social responsibility as a publicly listed company with international operations. For Wienerberger, responsibility means adopting an ethical approach in all activities, being honest in our communication, creating a transparent economic framework, accepting personal accountability, and serving as a reliable and valuable member of society. Within the framework of the Wienerberger sustainability management, the cooperation with Habitat for Humanity has been initiated.

Wienerberger AG & Habitat for Humanity International

The partnership with Habitat for Humanity International started in 2012. Habitat for Humanity is an international non-governmental organization devoted to building affordable housing for socially underprivileged families. During the first three years of our cooperation, homes for 129 families were built in Romania and Bulgaria. Another 1,361 people benefited from the partnership through joint projects, such as the construction of a hospice for the terminally ill in Bucharest and the renovation of a school building. Last year, follow-up agreements were signed, providing for an extension of the partnership in both qualitative and quantitative terms. By 2018, projects will be implemented not only in Romania and Bulgaria, but also in Hungary, Poland the USA; moreover, an awareness-raising campaign focusing on the importance of housing for the socially underprivileged will be launched in the project countries. A growing number of Wienerberger employees will volunteer to provide hands-on assistance.
