Willdan Energy Solutions Announces Opening of New England Office

On June 1, 2017, Willdan Energy Solutions (Willdan) opened its New England office in Milford, Connecticut. Don Flynn, CEM, was hired in March to lead operations and business development in the new region.

Mr. Flynn brings 28 years of increasing responsibility with an investor-owned utility and 8 years as an energy program and solutions consultant, with work in numerous Eastern states and other regions. He has an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a B.S. in Construction Management from the University of Cincinnati, and is also a Certified Energy Manager.

Mr. Flynn announced that Willdan has been selected by United Illuminating (UI) to serve as a contractor in the Energize Connecticut initiative's Small Business Energy Advantage (SBEA) program available to UI's small to medium business customers. Willdan will perform outreach and energy audits and will install qualifying energy efficiency upgrades of lighting, HVAC and other equipment which are incentivized under the program.

Willdan's Connecticut office will also pursue projects associated with Energize CT's Energy Opportunities (EO) program, available to large commercial and industrial customers throughout the state.

'In addition to working on smaller projects under the SBEA Program, we will leverage Willdan's exceptionally strong bench of energy engineers to perform investment grade energy audits and commissioning, combined with Willdan's demonstrated ability to turn-key the design and installation of large-scale energy efficiency upgrades', Flynn said.

'Residents of New England are very energy-aware, and utilities and private and public institutions in Connecticut continue to be proactive about energy efficiency and alternative resources, so I foresee a strong market for Willdan's innovative and comprehensive solutions in a variety of fields.'

Willdan's initial Connecticut team includes Bill Bitterli, P.E., with over 40 years of experience, Kurt Graveline II, as Operations Manager, and Paul Borgman and Gary Thompson as Energy Engineers. Sales/Outreach personnel, Project Managers and other staff will be added soon. Together, the office's initial staff brings over 100 years of comprehensive energy industry experience to New England utilities and end-use customers.
