MTS to double size of the inside M25 supply operation with new 10-year lease at Greenford

Wincanton, the largest British logistics firm, has secured a contract to provide warehousing and transport services to Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS), as the tyre and auto specialist strives to double the size of its inside M25 supply chain operation. This agreement follows an existing long-term relationship between the two companies which spans over ten years.

The deal will see Wincanton support MTS over the next ten years as MTS commits to lease a new 58,000 sq ft stand-alone facility in Auriol Drive, Greenford. It is anticipated that the new site will enable MTS to raise its outbound capacity from 6.4million to 7.15million units per year, serving retail and wholesale customers within the M25. MTS operates a total of 14 warehouses across the UK, 11 of which are managed in-house.

Huw Jenkins, Director, General Merchandise at Wincanton said:

'Our standing and experience in the market puts us in an unrivalled position to act when our clients express a desire to expand their operations. In this instance, we were able to not only identify and help secure a new Distribution Centre, but also manage the transfer and expansion of warehousing and transport operations within it. This meant MTS could focus on driving business growth.'

Dave Haddock, Logistics Director at MTS added:

'At MTS, we have ambitious plans for expansion over the next decade and the new Greenford facility will go some way to providing the capacity we need to fulfil this. Wincanton has long provided us with the performance and efficiencies we need at the two sites they operate for us. We look forward to their continuing support and insight for this latest venture.'
