Wincanton has announced plans to recruit upwards of 100 staff for its Stafford depot over the next 12 months in response to growing demand for its services.

While the West Midlands has experienced tough economic conditions in recent years, including a number of large scale redundancies from major employers, Wincanton's site has recorded a 71% increase in the number of staff in just two years.

The business has already hired nine new warehouse staff who were made redundant following the collapse of a major tyre manufacturer in the region and is proactively seeking further recruits throughout the remainder of 2016.

Laura Edwards, General Manager for the Stafford Site, commented: 'Our staff are the lifeblood of our business and have been the foundation of our growing success over recent years.'

'We have expanded our recruitment catchment area to ensure that we are able to secure the best supply chain talent from across the Midlands and have already seen this approach yield major benefits. Our proactive recruitment strategy will provide the groundwork for further success for us and our customers in the years ahead.'

The 550,000 sq ft Stafford site is managed by Wincanton on behalf of major trade retail business Screwfix. The partnership was awarded the Retail Week 'Supply Chain Team of the Year' Award in 2015.
