DALLAS, Dec. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Compass Datacenters has completed a lease agreement with Windstream Hosted Solutions (Nasdaq:WIN) for a data center facility in Franklin, Tennessee. Through this long-term lease agreement, Compass Datacenters will construct a 22,000 square foot standalone data center facility that will expand Windstream's IT infrastructure to meet growing demand for its enterprise-class cloud computing and managed services solutions. The facility will be designed to be SSAE-16 compliant, and is scheduled to open in 2013. It will be located on a data center campus that Compass is developing on land recently acquired in suburban Nashville. The data center facility will feature 2500kVA of utility capacity, and full redundancy throughout, to ensure maximum uptime as well as a fully staffed, around-the-clock Network Operations Center (NOC) and connectivity to multiple Windstream core POP sites via redundant OC-192 10Gbps circuits. The center will is also designed to enable rapid expansion of up to five times its current capacity.

The Windstream-branded facility will be built using Compass' Truly Modular(TM) Architecture, which makes it possible for companies to locate their data centers where they need them--at an affordable cost--rather than where their provider happens to have a facility.

"Compass was flexible, ensuring that our contract gave us the right level of operational control over the facility. Windstream's rapid growth throughout North America, especially in the delivery of cloud-based solutions like our Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), makes it imperative for us to expand strategically," said Kip Turco, Senior Vice President of Data Center Operations at Windstream Hosted Solutions. "Compass is delivering a complete solution that includes everything we were looking for in a data center: a permanent building with a hardened shell, Tier III certification, LEED Gold energy efficiency, our branding, dedicated office and support space, and so much more. One of the most unique benefits is that our contract leaves the door open for us to expand the data center without having to pay for empty space. That kind of flexibility is highly valuable for us as we continue to grow."

"Windstream is a great company with a keen focus on their customers. They are also a great illustration of how companies can benefit from our unique value proposition," said Chris Crosby, Founder and CEO of Compass. "One of the things that sets us apart from other data center providers is our transparency. We're an open book during the entire process, and we have very candid conversations with prospective customers about how our data center products work and whether it meets their needs. That allows prospective customers to quickly determine if our solution is right for them without the guesswork and leaps of faith that are too often involved in these discussions. We're straight with customers, and they respect that."

Crosby added, "In addition to giving Windstream geographic freedom for where they locate their data center, our wholesale standalone data centers give them enhanced control and the ability to do smart IT capacity planning. This enhanced level of control allows them to monitor and manage their facilities in a way that lets them ensure the satisfaction of their customers. Our architecture also allows Windstream to do IT capacity planning in a much smarter way by expanding in chunks of 1.2 MW increments, which means they can synchronize their spend with their revenue growth."
