Excellence is a core value for Woodside's workforce. It drives us to keep learning and improving. It steers us towards great results.
You'll find numerous examples of its influence in action throughout the following pages.
Note the opportunities opened by the introduction of wireless technology at the Karratha Gas Plant or the use of 3D printing as a simple solution to a complex problem. Check out too the incremental improvements that have added up to sizeable gains for our Persephone project or efforts to leverage our best ways of working in the new Australia Operating Unit.
Our quest for excellence covers both what we do and how we do it. Consider our collaborative approach to building environmental capability or the way in which we are encouraging the next generation to build their science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills.
In everything from health and safety to cognitive computing, excellence is clearly evident.

Australia unit paves way for global model
The creation of our Australia Operating Unit heralds an exciting
new era for Woodside and the way in which our operated and non-operated businesses work.
The Australia Operating Unit, formed from the amalgamation of the Australian and North West Shelf business units, became operational on 1 August.
It takes in all operating facilities in Australia plus our non-operated interests such as Wheatstone.
Niall Myles has been appointed senior vice president Australia Operating Unit, bringing valuable experience to this new role, having worked in both oil and gas and in the previous business units.
Indeed, Niall is keenly aware of the huge contribution the huge contribution the Australian and North West Shelf business units and their predecessors have made.
"We have a unique opportunity and responsibility to leverage the best ways to work that we've developed in every area of our Australian operations. We must also be creative to establish even better ways of working to be our best and maximise the value of these assets," he says.
Chief operations officer Mike Utsler set the goal of one operating unit in Australia.
Mike says evolving our approach to operations helps us prepare for the expansion of the company's global footprint.
"We have a super opportunity to define and then establish the
Woodside global operating model in Australia," he says.
"This is a business unit designed to support our international growth plans."
Mike also believes our operational performance will provide a sound base from which the Australia Operating Unit can attain new levels of performance.
"Our half-year results proved that our operational performance is moving to world-class delivery," he notes.
"Volumes were up, reliability was high and at the same time, costs were down."
Mike says all of the individual business units and assets have been integral to Woodside's success in Australia.
He points out that it was the hard work of many people across the company that set the scene for an increase in Woodside's forecast production range to 90-95 MMboe.
"This fantastic result shows that we are making good on our commitment to continuous improvement - a fact further backed up by the first half
results which clearly demonstrated we are maximising the value of our base business," he says.
He says Woodside achieved outstanding production at our facilities, particularly at Pluto.
"Annualised Pluto production of 4.9 mtpa in the first half was 14% higher than the original design capacity," Mike adds.
Other pleasing results are the global benchmarks set during the recent turnarounds and excellent reliability across our assets.
"It is providing our Australia Operating Unit with a solid platform from
which to grow and shape future opportunities," he says.
"It is strengthening the outcomes of our division and our contribution to the company becoming a global leader in oil and gas."
Deborah Peach is the Australia Operating Unit's general manager health, safety, environment and quality.
HSEQ, she says, is another important factor in Woodside's progression to world-class delivery.
"We've made great strides in improving our health, safety and environment performance," Deborah says.
