Suppliers to Australia's two dominant supermarket chains have approached the country's consumer watchdog to complain about the behavior of Woolworths Ltd. (>> Woolworths Limited) and Wesfarmers Ltd.'s (>> Wesfarmers Limited) Coles, the Age reported Tuesday.
Rod Sims, head of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, told the newspaper a number of parties have responded to his call for information about alleged bullying tactics by the two companies. A number of "major listed companies" were among those that responded to the request for evidence of "unconscionable conduct," Sims was quoted as saying.
