New supermarket creates 100 new jobs for local community

Thursday, 17 October 2013: Residents of Kingsgrove can now enjoy one of Australia's most modern supermarket concepts with their new Woolworths opening its doors today.

The new supermarket, on Mashman Avenue, opens at 8am this morning.

James Brien, Woolworths Store Manager, said the new supermarket is designed for the everyday needs of the Kingsgrove community.

"At their new 3,571 square metre Woolies, shoppers will find a wide range of products with 'More Savings Every Day'. Alongside fresh food and groceries, we also offer a range of organic and gluten free choices making shopping easy for the whole family.

"Our aim is to connect customers directly with produce fresh from suppliers, including local growers. With 100 per cent of fresh meat and 96 per cent of fresh fruit and veg sourced from Australia, our store will highlight the wonderful seasonality of produce, our growers and their regions, plus tips and advice to prepare and enjoy.

"Some of the features our customers should look out for include the extensive delicatessen and seafood counters, custom-made fresh pizzas, a choice of manned and self serve checkouts and a convenient on site BWS liquor store.

"The new store has also created 120 jobs at the store with new staff taking their first steps on an exciting and fulfilling career in retail," said James.

Customers are welcome to join in all the opening day festivities with entertainment and giveaways today. The store will be open from 6am to midnight seven days a week.

Interviews and photo opportunities are available. For further information please contact One Green Bean on (02) 8020 1805.
