20 March, 2015
LONDON - Advertising Week Europe, the largest annual gathering of the advertising, creative, entertainment, marketing, media and technology industries, returns to London for its 3rd consecutive year, from 23-27 March.

This year at AdWeek Europe, Ogilvy & Mather Group UK will be exploring the role of humour in advertising. Stand-up comedian, television presenter and actor Jimmy Carr will be Ogilvy & Mather Group UK's special guest, alongside Vice Chairman Rory Sutherland. Together they will talk about Advertising, Comedy and Evolutionary Psychology.

This special event, hosted by Ogilvy & Mather Group UK's CEO, Annette King, will take place on the ITV Stage at Princess Anne, BAFTA, 195 Piccadilly, on Wednesday 25th March, 12:00pm.

When asked about the importance of Advertising Week Europe, Annette King said: "The creative sector is worth over £71bn to the UK economy and is one of our most important industries, enhancing economic growth and creating jobs at all levels. Advertising Week Europe is an eclectic gathering of minds and a hub of creative thinking, and I am proud our Group is at the heart of the conversation".

Approximately 50% of adverts use humour, whether it's an out and out joke or a lighthearted take on life. North America and Europe are more likely to use humour in their adverts than the rest of the world, but wherever you go, humour plays an important role in brand communications. If we laugh we feel good, if we feel good, we feel engaged.

Advertising Week is a hybrid of inspiring thought leadership featuring the world's best and brightest with engaging special events that galvanize targeted constituencies.
