Atkins further builds relationship with Talisman Sinopec Energy UK under new framework contract - 5 September 2014

Atkins has been awarded a five-year contract for the provision of structural integrity management services under a new framework agreement with oil and gas operator, Talisman Sinopec Energy UK Limited (TSEUK).

In line with TSEUK's operational strategy to drive greater efficiency, the five-year contract elevates the previous contracts to a Tier One supplier, building on the previous 10-year multidiscipline working relationship between the companies.

Under the contract, which was awarded following a competitive tendering process, Atkins is providing a dedicated core operational integrity team to support all elements of the Structural Integrity Management (SIM) process. Inspection planning has been added to the existing engineering assessment and strategy management, which Atkins previously provided. In addition, Atkins will also provide multi-disciplinary consultancy services in support of the wider TSEUK business.

Alex Campbell, managing director of Atkins' Oil and Gas business, commented: "Atkins already has an excellent technical reputation so this contract builds upon our recognised expertise by adding an increased emphasis on delivering tangible operational benefits and efficiencies.

"We have been working with Talisman Energy UK, now Talisman Sinopec Energy UK, since they first entered the North Sea in 2001. The growth of this relationship, into both design and operational support, demonstrates our commitment to delivering benefits to clients across the whole life cycle of assets.

"We have an extensive knowledge base on which to draw because Atkins' manages the integrity for the majority of assets in the North Sea.  This knowledge means we can deliver significant value for our clients - one example of which is our risk-based inspection methodology which enables us to rationalise the number of inspections needed, reducing time offshore and streamlining the inspection process."
