This year's sold-out Council for Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) conference is taking place at the Grand Hyatt in New York from the 26th - 30th October. The conference theme is 'The resurgence of the skyscraper city' and will see over 1,200 delegates from around the world to hear and share the latest thinking on all things high-rise.

Designing global skylines

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff is hosting a special two-day event during the conference entitled Designing Global Skylines: The Challenges and Opportunities of Skyscraper Cities. We have a varied and thought-provoking program delivered by an array of industry experts - ranging from David Penick, Managing Director of Hines, on creating a new landmark for New York to James Parakh, from the city of Toronto's planning division, on developing skylines with personality via a number of leading architects and enlightening case studies.

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff engineers in the limelight

If you have registered for the main CTBUH conference, we also have two colleagues presenting on the main stage:

Silvian Marcus, Director of Building Structures at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff in the USA, and a world-renowned structural engineer, will discuss the engineering design of New York's super-skinny skyscrapers. In his presentation 'The New Supers: Super-Slender Towers of New York', he will profile several of our projects, including 432 Park Avenue and 111 West 57th Street, which will be the most slender building in the world.

See Silvian: Monday, October 26, 15:45-17:15 PM - Session 3e: The Super Slim

Vincent Tse, an expert in Vertical Transportation Systems for super tall (600 m+) towers, and a Director at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff in Greater China, will chair a session on advances in vertical transport.
