Laundry as we know it is experiencing a wave of change-a nearly waterless wave.

In the modern world, we associate cleanliness with success.Showing up to a job interview with a coffee spill from yesterday on your shirt isn't acceptable. Clean hotel linens are essential to a quality guest experience. And so on.

Yet cleaning fabrics comes with a cost. We are throwing millions of gallons of water and detergent down the drain. Because laundry will always be a staple of society in one form or another, it's our responsibility as global citizens to revolutionize this traditionally wasteful process.

That's where Xeros comes in.

Xeros' advanced technology works to reduce water consumption in laundry by up to 80 percent, and energy and detergent consumption by up to 50 percent. But the technology isn't the only piece of Xeros' mission to make laundry sustainable.

The Sustainable Laundry Movement

While technological development is a driving factor of progress in any industry, it isn't the sole element. For an idea to gain momentum, there has to be an underlying mission that speaks to the bigger picture. With that in mind, Xeros is spearheading the first sustainable collaborative laundry project: the Symphony Project.

By giving partnering brands the opportunity to offer Xeros technology to their customer base while also keeping their original brand name, the Symphony Project aims to unite the laundry industry-from laundromats to hotels to textile rental companies-for the greater purpose of sustainability. The industry as a whole can contribute to the larger, ongoing conversation in the world and work together to navigate the future of sustainable laundry.

'The universal availability of fresh water and carbon emissions are critical issues for our planet and we know we can't address these issues alone,' said Scott Wicker, Vice President Global Brand Management at Xeros, emphasizing the importance of joining forces.

Real Solutions for Real Problems

Xeros technology is a stride in the right direction. The severity of the recent drought in California stands out among the many environmental issues we face today. Businesses all over the state were expected to cut their water consumption by 20 percent-a daunting fraction, especially for the hotel industry.

'[This] system is the exact type of solution that many businesses in California need, as it helps to significantly reduce water while improving our laundry cleaning capabilities,' saidSteve Thompson,Director of Property Operations at the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City.

Transforming the Laundry Industry

Sustainability might not be synonymous with luxury just yet, but Xeros cleaning technology tightens the gap between the two. Not only does the implementation of the technology reduce the consumption of precious resources, but it also provides higher customer satisfaction.

'This system is one of the few technologies that actually provides our customers with a better experience, while significantly cutting our water consumption. We're saving the environment, saving money, and making our customers happier,' said Kirk Lok,President and CEO of The LOK Group.

Some amount of risk is inevitable when change occurs. When a company transitions to more sustainable practices, they typically have to consider the initial investment, the unfamiliar maintenance of new technology, the brand management, and retaining (and growing) their customer base.

With the implementation of Xeros technology and services, we would say that this transition is as beneficial as it is smooth. Work with us to transform this industry.
