Regulatory News:

XIRING (Paris:ALXIR), a security solutions provider for electronic transactions, announces the early results from its efforts to improve its carbon footprint, which it began implementing in 2010 with the setting up of an annual carbon footprint assessment in cooperation with Action Carbone.

Environmental, health and safety concerns are at the heart of XIRING's decisions and contribute to its reputation vis-à-vis its employees, clients, partners and shareholders.

Indeed, as a member of the UN's Global Compact Program since 2006, XIRING follows the ten principles set by this organization in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption.

Because it cares about the effect of its activity on the environment, XIRING decided in 2010 to perform an annual carbon footprint diagnosis with Action Carbone, based on the GHG emissions factors used in the ADEME's Bilan CarboneTM method.

The Bilan Carbone process has made it possible to assess the company's carbon footprint, identify the various sources of GHG emissions and set up corrective measures. Thus, with the first assessment of 2009, XIRING determined strategic areas for improvement over the years to come, such as:

  • increase in sea shipping (instead of by air);
  • managing equipment nearing the end of its life cycle;
  • managing purchases by choosing environmentally responsible suppliers;
  • environmentally designed products and optimized packaging.

The company has also implemented a guide for its employees, educating them on commuting and business trips, reducing the use of paper and office supplies, and using less electricity.

In completing its second diagnosis, XIRING has found that the carbon footprint of its activity in tCO2e /?M in turnover was down 2% compared with 2009.

Georges LIBERMAN, Chairman and CEO, says that "Caring about the environment is essential to XIRING. The Bilan Carbone® diagnosis provides us with a tool to measure our carbon footprint and allows us to take corrective measures and follow-up on their implementation. Our goal is to make our activity's carbon footprint smaller each year".
