Hamilton, Bermuda - July 31, 2012 - XL Group plc's
("XL") (NYSE: XL) Bermuda insurance operations, XL
Insurance (Bermuda) Ltd ("XLIB"), today announced the
appointment of Carla Greaves as Chief Excess Casualty
Underwriter. As of August 1st Ms Greaves will succeed Beth
Piggott who is retiring after a 24-year career with
XLIB.
Prior to her appointment, Ms. Greaves was Senior Vice
President, Operations & Underwriting Manager of XLIB's
Excess Casualty Unit. In her new role, Ms. Greaves will be
responsible for underwriting management within Excess
Casualty and the development of core underwriting
strategies and products, infrastructure and service
capabilities.
During her 17 years in the industry, Ms. Greaves has held
progressively senior roles. She started her insurance
career as an underwriter with XLIB in 1995. Subsequently,
Ms. Greaves held senior management roles at several other
established and start-up commercial insurance companies in
Bermuda, including Allied World Assurance Company, Arch
Insurance Company, ACE Bermuda Insurance Company and Torus
Insurance (Bermuda) Ltd. She resumed her career
with XLIB in June 2011.
Ms. Greaves is a graduate of Warwick Academy and St. John's
University's School of Risk Management (formerly the
College of Insurance, New York). She received her
Associateship of The Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII)
professional designation in 1994 from the Chartered
Insurance Institute in London, UK.
Commenting on the senior management change, Lorraine Seib,
who leads XL's Excess Casualty global operations, said:

responsibilities to move XL forward. Given Carla's vast

she will propel the excess casualty Bermuda operations to
new heights."

past two decades. She has played an instrumental role in

with Carla previously and again during this past year at
XL, I know that her leadership of the XLIB Excess
